Next Steps
I’m Ready to Continue Serving!
Like many cities in New Mexico, Farmington is facing challenges but we have opportunities too. Taking action through the city council to deal with issues that are important to my constituents include keeping utilities reliable and affordable, paving and maintaining roads, providing for the safety of our community, expanding our parks and recreation opportunities and supporting local businesses. These and other important issues are of paramount importance to me.
Keeping Electric Rates Reasonable
Farmington has some of the lowest utility rates in the state and also some of the most reliable service. For the past six years, utility rates have remained stable. Not only are low rates important to residential customers, but also attracts economic development.
Keeping Vital Infrastructure Like Water, Wastewater and Streets in Great Shape
I will work to make sure we keep our critical infrastructure maintained or, in most cases, improved. During my time on the council, we have brought a new wastewater treatment plant online and replaced miles of water and sewer lines. I work very closely with our public works director on issues that are on the minds of my constituents such as potholes and needed street repairs.
Supporting First Responders and Public Safety
Safety is a huge goal and I strongly support local police and fire departments. While on the council, we added numerous park rangers throughout the park system and in downtown. I will continue to advocate for keeping our streets and neighborhoods safe.
Quality of Life with Parks, Art and Outdoor Recreation
Our parks and recreation opportunities are second to none. Improvement and expansion of our parks system is a top priority as they enhance the quality of life for everyone. I have been involved in the development of Bisti Bay at Brookside Park, the expansion and renovation of downtown and the Farmington Civic Center. In the coming months, we will see the renovation of Pinon Hills Golf Course and the development of the All Abilities Park where the old Tibbetts Jr. High School was formerly located.
Strong Supporter of Farmington’s Small Businesses
Small businesses are the lifeblood of our community. In my entire working career, I have had the pleasure of working in small business. In the 1950s, my grandfather owned and operated a small farm in south Farmington. Farming is hard work and there wasn’t a single day my grandparents didn’t put everything they had into making their small business a success. From those roots and my own experience, we must continue to create an environment where small businesses can grow and expand.
I’m Asking for Your Vote to Continue Making the Positive Differences for District 1
I am a candidate for City Council because I believe Farmington’s best days are ahead of us. I bring many years of successful business experience that includes working with diverse people, projects, and most importantly, finance and budgets. I have worked hard to continue to move Farmington ahead. I am a good listener and care about openness, fairness and honesty in government. I’m willing to continue to do what the position requires and would love to continue to be part of shaping the vision of Farmington. I respectively ask for your vote on November 2.
